Expansion Roadmap
SafeDine covers 13 active data sources across 11 states, with restaurant listings in all 50 states via OpenStreetMap and Foursquare. We use Socrata Open Data APIs, ArcGIS, and other public data portals to integrate official inspection data.
Update Frequency
All 13 data sources are synced automatically on a weekly schedule, staggered across the week to ensure fresh data. Scores are recalculated every Sunday.
Note: There may be a delay between when an inspection occurs and when it appears in the source database. Newly opened restaurants may not appear until their first inspection is recorded.
Scoring Methodology
The SafeDine Score is our proprietary calculation based on official inspection data. While the underlying inspection records are public information, our scoring algorithm applies weighted factors to generate a single, easy-to-understand score. The same scoring methodology is applied consistently across all data sources.
Our scores are not official government ratings. For authoritative information, always refer to the official source records.
